Thirty Days of Prompts and Opportunities for Solidarity: Week Two

Thirty Days of Prompts and Opportunities for Solidarity: Week Two

Welcome to the Shitshow, part 851, Trump 2.0, Climate Collapse, Chapter 38.

Regardless of who is in office, solidarity, mutual aid and community are what keep us safe. I’ve put together these daily prompts and opportunities for solidarity (i.e. folks doing work that you can support if you are able/ feel so inclined), as a way to connect with others, reflect on where and how you can plug in, and to keep us all thinking about liberation. The prompts are meant for writing (alone or with others), conversation starters, ideas for art projects or actions or whatever you’d like! In my workshops and classes, I generally set a timer for 10 minutes, folks write, then everyone takes turns reading aloud. But there are no rules here in this anarchist space…Collect them all, write alone in your room while listening to Dead Prez, or host a gathering/writing workshop! Write songs and poetry! Embroider the words onto a pillow for your lover! Build community! Host a fundraiser for one or more networks mentioned! Host a potluck, Eat the rich! xo

Prompt, Day 8: Do people in your life share your values? Do you share ideas about tactics, etc? If so/if not: how does it impact your approach to action?

Opportunity for Solidarity: The Black Trans Women Inc Sister’s Keeper program provides emergency assistance for our Sisters in their greatest time of need.  Aid is offered to black trans women in the United States to help cover unexpected emergency needs such as groceries, shelter, safe transportation and phone/utility expenses.

*

Prompt, Day 9: List three (or more!) things that help you feel grounded and resourced. Pick one and write about how to bring more of that into your life (extra: maybe ask someone in your life to help with this thing).

Opportunity for Solidarity: : The Migra Watch Hotline is a nationwide line to report CBP & ICE activity and receive support. It’s a tool you, your family, and friends can use if you witness ICE or CBP in your community.

*

Prompt, Day 10: Let’s talk about classism! Hooray! In what ways do you recognize your class privilege? In what ways can you use your privilege to uplift/center others?

Opportunity for Solidarity: Mutual Aid Disaster Relief is a decentralized network across the so called United States, defined by the character and creativity of a multitude of communities and drawn together by our collective commitment to stand in solidarity with those impacted by disasters and turn the tide in favor of climate justice. They also have this awesome Street Medic Handbook

*

Prompt, Day 11: If you’re a low-wealth person, what are some things you wish more privileged folks understood about your experience?

Opportunity for Solidarity: The Trans Asylum Seeker Support Network (TASSN) is a border abolitionist, direct action, and mutual aid collective, supporting trans and queer people seeking asylum. TASSN supports asylum seekers (compañeres or compes) across all domains of life for the duration of their asylum processes and often beyond.

*

Prompt, Day 12: Pick a terrible headline from the past week (or several.. there are A LOT to choose from) and rewrite the article (extra credit for dark humor here).

Opportunity for Solidarity: Frontline Medics is an Indigifemme led autonomous medic collective with an incredible amount of resources and information for folks to care for each other while living through state oppression and climate collapse (among other things). You can find a list of resources and handbooks RIGHT HERE.

*

Prompt, Day 13: What is the most urgent issue facing your community? Who are the folks already addressing it? What skills can you bring to support them?

Opportunity for Solidarity: AROC (Arab Resource & Organizing Center) serves poor and working class Arabs and Muslims across the San Francisco Bay Area, while organizing to overturn racism, forced migration, and militarism.

*

Prompt, Day 14: How do you handle conflict in your relationships? How about forgiveness? How about Repair?

P.S. Here are a couple more songs for you. xoxo

Speaking of class issues... I fucking LOVE this song:

Anyone who knows me knows that snacks are my love language. Also: "I know we're gonna meet someday in the crumbled financial institutions of this land"
